Questions
Frequently asked
Multiply your current salary by (1 + hike% ÷ 100). For example, a 15% hike on ₹10,00,000 gives ₹10,00,000 × 1.15 = ₹11,50,000, an increase of ₹1,50,000. Switch to “Apply a hike %” above, enter your salary and the percentage, and it computes the new figure instantly.
Hike % = (new salary − old salary) ÷ old salary × 100. Going from ₹10 lakh to ₹12 lakh is a 20% hike. Use the “Compare salaries” mode above to get the exact percentage between your old and new pay.
Appraisal letters usually state the hike on CTC (cost to company). Your in-hand increase is smaller because tax rises with income. Calculate the new CTC here, then run it through our take-home salary calculator to see the actual monthly increase after tax.
Because higher income is taxed more, and parts of a CTC hike may go to fixed components like employer PF or variable pay rather than monthly cash. A 15% CTC hike often translates to a somewhat smaller in-hand increase, depending on your tax slab and salary structure.
Average annual increments in India typically run around 8–10%, with stronger performers and in-demand skills getting more, and job switches often fetching 20–40%. Use the compare mode to benchmark an offer against your current pay.
